Chocolate Cake in a Mug

Ok, I know the majority of you are cringing at this now, but I promise it works! On many an evening (probably too many if my waistline tells the story!) I have felt the need for some little treat that isn’t wine or boozy and is just sweet and indulgent. Well here is the quickest and easiest chocolate cake you will ever EVER make.


  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 3-4 tbsp milk
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 3 tbsp chocolate chips
  • a dash of vanilla extract

You will need a really large mug to start with, if you use a small one it will just over flow and gibe you messy microwave! Add all the dry ingredients to the cup and mix well, add the wet ingredients and mix really well so there are no lumps or blobs of powder, finally add the chocolate chips and give one last stir (I would recommend a whisk, or even one of the mini electric whisks to really blend it all as any unblended bits will be vile).

Put in the microwave and blast on high for 3 to 4 minutes until risen and cooked. I recommend serving with ice cream or cream… oh go on, its Christmas!

    This sounds like me everyday haha. I am always craving a sweet treat and this cake in a mug looks perfect
