‘Tis the Season to be Jolly :: Christmas Tag!

I’ve never really participated in one of these tags before to be honest, I’ve always enjoyed reading everyone else’s tag posts but then wondered if mine would just pale in comparison and be oh-so-boring! I’ve left it. Then my gorge friend Hannah from Hi Baby Blog sent me a message asking if I wanted to be involved in the Reasons to be Jolly tag and I thought BOOM that is a tag for moi!

So, with thanks to Hannah, here we go!

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Ohhh my days, how the devil am I meant to pick one? HANNAH, what did you do this to me for?? So, it would be an impossible toss up between Home Alone, Elf and The Santa Claus.

I refuse to choose between those beauties!

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Tonnes! I wish I could dig out some of my childhood photos, it was a blanket of white… the one year it wasn’t my parents hired a snow machine and made snow (they are also big Christmas people!) I adored it. It makes me sad when it’s not snowing at Christmas now!

I can just about cope with an ice over, but if it’s sunny or drizzling I refuse to look outside – ha!

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Jingle Bell Rock and Rockin’ Around the Christmas tree. Jingle Bell Rock just tips if because … it’s epic. OHHHH and Santa, Baby but Eartha. That chicka had some pipes and I learnt to sing jazz with this song. Actually, I’m scratching this – it goes Santa, Baby followed by Jingle Bell Rock and pulling in a close third Rockin around the Christmas tree.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

We used to! I always used to open a small gift on Christmas Eve – not now. We have Christmas Eve boxes instead now and we fill them with all sorts of fun treats so it’s like a big present.

Can you name all of Santas Reindeer?

Bitch please, I can sing em! There was Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid, Donna and Blitzen  but do you recall, the most famous reindeer all… RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER, had a very shiny nose…

I’m going too far right? I might need to add this one back into the favourite song category though…

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

FOOD. Eating all the food.

Ahem, AND on Xmas eve we go ice skating, followed by opening our xmas eve boxes and snuggling on the sofas to watch a movie. I adore Xmas Eve… Adam and I have camembert and bread for dinner and then we wrap prezzies. The day I love getting up early, watching the kids opening presents and enjoying the day together!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Which one? This year we have four… what you didn’t get the loopy Christmas lady theme yet? Then let me just redirect yo’ ass to the question about reindeer my friend. Mmm-hmmm. We have 4 fake trees!

What is your favourite holiday treat?

Do you mean aside from the social acceptance that I can have a Buck’s Fizz with my morning coffee whilst watching the kids tear open gifts like rabid animals and feast on chocolate/sweets before breakfast? Oh you did?

I’ve say the buffet snacks that I buy purely for myself. Not to “share” I buy platters for me and offer them out in an aggressive manner that alludes to my lack of desire to share.

Honestly, do you prefer to give or receive gifts?

Ooooh. Both. Equally. I adore giving gifts, I love seeing someone’s face light up (especially when it’s something I’ve made with the kids) and I love receiving stuff that I have been desiring from afar. I might be tempted to say that giving top trumps receiving from a parental point of view now.

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

Oh I can’t say. I have had some legendary Christmas gifts!! I really don’t know… hmm…

Where is your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I REALLY want to take the kids to Lapland. We’re going to Disneyworld next year in Nov/Dec but I think I might see if I can stretch to taking the kids to meet Santa a few days before Xmas. I really want to take them because I went when I was a child and it was magical. It truly was!

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’m neither. I manage to wrap but I don’t do all of the fancy pants ribbons and bows thing. I would LOVE to do it because I could just sit and drool over presents that look lush but I do not have those skills. I do have the skill to smack a bit of cellotape on a bit of paper and hope for the best but I am not quite so bad that I’m wrapping with tin foil like Adam… (though he manages to make that look fancy when he crafts swans and crackers and bows.)

What’s your favourite Christmas memory

I’m not sure, I adore Xmas and last year was especially wonderful because the kids were SO excited and all a bit older. I love their faces on Xmas morning, it’s one of those things where they are so delighted with every little thing and we get squeals of delight. Those moments make for a top trump on anything and everything.

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

What do you mean? I don’t understand this question… What truth? I *think* some twatwaffle at school who I can’t even remember but she might have been blond, mean and called Sarah, told me that Santa didn’t exist.

But I bucked the trend and I am STILL convinced that magic happens and Christmas with a big, fat, jolly dude at the helm.

Take that Sarah.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Oh as corny as it sounds it’s family isn’t it? You can’t beat that quality family time, spending the moments around the telly and snuggled up, eating tonnes of food and drinking booze together. It’s the bonding time, the love the envelopes and it is amazing. That’s what makes Chrsitmas: Love and family.

And presents, because they are pretty awesome.
