It’s Stress Awareness month! If you haven’t seen my post here about Stress Awareness month and the stress awareness takeover, then go and check it out so that you can see what is going on!

I am Sam a 50 year old Mum and now Nanny to my Daughter who is 14 and suffering with a chronic illness and my two stepsons, and very proud Nanny to my gorgeous 4 month old Granddaughter and 1 month old Grandson.  I live in Surrey with my husband and we have two mad dogs.  I write my blog StressedMum which covers everything family orientated. 1.)     Do you suffer with stress frequently or occasionally?

I do suffer with stress frequently, if honest a little too much.

2.)     What sort of things cause you stress?

Apart from the normal daily things in life that stress me out, my Daughters illness causes me so much stress, mainly when dealing with health professionals, who do not understand the illness and I find myself getting more and more wound up

3.)     Does anything in particular make stress worse for you?

Trying to get help for my Daughter is the one thing that makes my stress a lot worse

4.)     Does stress have an impact on your physical health?

Yes I suffer IBS which is worse when I am under stress, I also get headaches

5.)     What do you do to alleviate stress?

I try to switch off, I either shut myself away in my bedroom and watch a film.

6.)     Do you think more needs to be done to raise awareness of what causes stress and the impact it has on us and those around us? If yes, what would you do or like to see done?

I think a lot of people laugh at those who say they are stressed, I have been known to burst into tears before now when someone has done this.  Stress is real and I think people should be made aware it is not a joke it is real.

7.)     Do you have any tips for anyone dealing with stress?

Know your own mind and body and realise when you are stressed and try to remove yourself from the situation.

Thanks Sam!
