Bass & Bass unisex kitchen play set (Finally, no pink in sight!)

Great kitchen accessories toy from Bass & Bass - perfect and totally gender neutral. This is a great site for finding toys for toddlers!

I am quite passionate about gender neutral toys being available (please note, I have no problem with gender specific toys, but their should always be an alternative for the opposite gender or total gender neutrality, to make it fair). This set is so exciting! It’s fun, easy to use and totally cute!

At Christmas I bought Reuben (the boys really…) a unisex kitchen play set and various accessories, all of them in wood, but one thing I really struggled to find was a fun kitchen accessories set, and a tea set, that wasn’t pink. This drove me insane!

I really resent the implication that tea sets and kitchen sets are for little girls! Firstly, the majority of top chefs in the world are… men. Secondly, when did we decide that kitchen and tea play sets were a girls ‘thing’ or at what point did we decide that children’s toys should be influenced by gender stereotypes. Interestingly, I had a similar problem finding something for Reuben’s teddy to wear that wasn’t pink, floral or designed for a larger tending bear (not a doll size… which of course is what good old Harold the teddy is).

To me, this is anything but ok.

So, I made it a bit of a mission to find a pan set that wasn’t gender stereotyped and I came across the perfect set. This unisex pan set from Bass & Bass is just so beautifully designed and is made from solid metal (just like real pans!)

I have to say, I get a little excited when I think about this set – it’s not made for girls, it’s also not aimed at exclusively boys, it’s made for children. Good job Bass & Bass. Good job!

You can get one for your happy little chef here.

P.s – Don’t shoot me for saying this BUT this set would be an awesome addition to a sensory box for a baby… just saying.
