Stress Awareness Month with Just The Three of Us

It’s Stress Awareness month! If you haven’t seen my post here about Stress Awareness month and the stress awareness takeover, then go and check it out so that you can see what is going on!

Hi, I’m Chloe from justthethreeofus.co.uk, a parenting and lifestyle blog. I’m a mum of two fuelled mainly by caffeine and chocolate who loves nothing more than a good nap!

1.)     Do you suffer with stress frequently or occasionally?

Frequently, I’d say there are very few days where I don’t suffer with stress. Of course the level of stress varies but I tend to become stressed very easily.

2.)     What sort of things cause you stress?

A bit of everything really. I’m a self-employed single mum of two so I have a lot of balls to juggle.

3.)     Does anything in particular make stress worse for you?

Lack of understanding definitely makes it worse for me, being told to ‘chill out’ really winds me up. It’s not as easy as that, you can’t just switch stress off.

4.)     Does stress have an impact on your physical health?

Definitely, I eat when I’m stressed, which in turn makes me gain weight, which then stresses me out, can’t win! In all seriousness though, I definitely feel the physical strain when my stress levels are at their highest, I get headaches and the shakes. I also tire easier.

5.)     What do you do to alleviate stress?

I take medication for anxiety & stress which helps. I also try and sleep as much as can. I find getting stuck into a book helps and a long hot bath eases the physical strain.

6.)     Do you think more needs to be done to raise awareness of what causes stress and the impact it has on us and those around us? If yes, what would you do or like to see done?

Most definitely. Many don’t realise quite how crippling stress can be. I’d love to see more famous names speak out about their own experiences of stress to raise awareness. I’d also like to see mental health charities promote stress awareness.

7.)     Do you have any tips for anyone dealing with stress?

Talk. Talk as much as you can. Let it out, internalising how you feel can be incredibly damaging.
