Shearsmith’s do Netflix :: Toby’s netflix must sees

There are so many things that make Netflix handy, especially for the kids, not least of all the fact that they can be watching something on Netflix at home and then pick it up at the same spot on the school run and BACK! Woo!

The boys aren’t really into the same things at all, so I’ve split them up although there is a touch of lap over with some of the programmes. For Toby, everything is about Dinosaurs usually, he is dino mad and wants to be a palaeontologist when he grows up so for him, finding a series or dino film is magic!

So if you have a little one, these are the things that he’s recommending and especially if you have a dino lover, you know what to do!

The recommendation: Walking with Dinosaurs

We watch these over and over… and OVER again. He is obsessed with the Walking with Dinosaurs series and he especially loves Al the Allosaurus, though every so often he will inform me that he no longer likes the series and is scared of the dinosaurs, only to sneak into bed on a morning and ask me if he can have my phone to watch some dinos! Not only is this a huge hit series but it’s highly educational and like most documentary style programs, it’s worth watching for both adults and children.

The current: Troll Hunters

We’re half way through this with new episodes being put out all the time and the boys both really love the series. Toby has asked for it a few times and I think this could easily go into Roo’s top 5 as well. The series is based around a young boy who becomes a mystical defender against the world’s evil trolls – it’s very much what you see is what you get but I can honestly say, hand on heart, it’s funny, clever and really worth watching with your kids.

The Future: DinoTrux Supercharged

Toby LOVED Dino Trux – I mean, duh, dinosaurs and trucks mashed together… what isn’t to love when you are 4/5 and obsessed with those two things! He loved it, and now that Supercharged is out I know he is going to really enjoy watching that too!

The Binge: Pokemon

Tobes loves Pokémon and it’s one of the shows that just runs in the background whilst he enjoys playing and doing. He’s a five year old so “binge” is a bit of a daft one because given the chance he would binge every show but I think it fits best in this category because he’s not really concentrating on it, but rather it is constantly there and running. Not to mention that if you did want something to “binge” for a poorly child or something like that, there are a bajillion and one episodes.

The movie: Hotel Transylvania & Hotel Transylvania 2

I don’t know what it is with Tobes, I never ever would have expected this to be his movie recommendation but every time I turn around he is watching one of these! He LOVES these movies, laughs at them, watches them over and over and they aren’t even old! He especially likes number 2 for some reason, and I’m secretly hoping they do a number 3 just to keep him hooked and I’ve heard rumours they will THIS YEAR! For this very reason he wants to go and see the new monster movie out soon called Monster Family, so let’s hope it’s a good one too!

So there is the second instalment of Shearsmith’s do Netflix!

Sounds like a great bunch of shows for kids. I’ve seen the first of the Hotel Transylvania movies, so maybe I’ll have to get the kids to sit down and watch number two – not for me of course.

We all love Troll Hunters in our house. It’s fantastic and so surprising that Guilliamo del Toro has done a kids show. Netflix utterly crush it with original programming. They bat it out of the field. They are our go to in our house – kids and adults. We never watch terrestial tv anymore.
