Playroom decor wish list (because I’m not allowed to redecorate!)*

My playroom decor wish list featuring NEST, NUBIE, H&M and IKEA via Toby & Roo :: Daily inspiration from stylish parents and their kids.

The boys have too many toys. I’m pretty confident that this is something that EVERY parent can say with absolution – there are just too many toys in my house. I am finding that I’m struggling to put things away in the playroom, I mean, there just isn’t enough room!

I want to introduce a reading corner so that Reuben can have his much demanded “peace and quiet” but at the moment the boxes upon boxes of toys are just taking over. I’ve been having a little look on pinterest at playroom designs and I’ve fallen in love with so many suggestions – my issue there being that I am *that* mum that will think she’s creative and try to take a little bit from every design and end up with something that would haunt the dreams of any interior designer. Alas, it’s still the way I roll, so I’ve put together a little playroom decor wish list.

Magis Puppy Chair £60

Such a cute chair, I thought this would be super cute for the boys to sit on while they play with their aeroplanes.

Magis Piedras Bench £326

I love the idea of the boys having a bench like area to sprawl out on and read their books or play on their iPads. It would give Roo the quiet area he wants to be on his own.

H&M Paper Bunting £9.99

Ideal for decorating because we don’t have to spend a fortune on something like this and we can change it at any time.

H&M Rhino cushion £3.99

Reuben adores Rhinos and he would love this cushion for his quiet time.

H&M Large storage basket £7.99

I just love storage baskets and bags, so much prettier than big block areas.

Ikea PS LÖMSK chair £45

This would be ideal instead of a bench, Roo would be able to close it off and have his peace and quiet, but Toby might well want to join him!

House Doctor striped storage basket £10

Did I mention I like baskets?

Fiona Walker Giraffe Head £45

We have a polar bear version of this for Christmas and the boys adore it! It is a really fun way to add a quirky twist to the room!

Oliver Furniture Large Low shelving unit with bench top £285

This would be my investment piece I think. I love the idea of a storage unit that actually has a bench area on the top – we’d just have to make sure we didn’t cram toys on it!

What playroom decor do you like the best?

    I love EVERYTHING you’ve selected!
I’m a bit the same, I have quite a scatty approach to interiors and am yet to master nailing any particular look without over complicating things!
Ps. We have toy storage from the great little trading company – their stackable toy cubby hole things are perfect!

I haven’t even thought about how I would decorate a playroom, we have such a small house it’s not something we can offer the kids. When baby number 2 arrives he will be sharing with Lamb, but as they get older I suppose their bedroom will have to be a playroom too. Love the bits you’ve picked out though xx

We use Emma’s wardrobe for toy storage as well, as it is quite tall. I totally hate clutter and I would rather store away or throw out than have toys everywhere in the house. Good luck with your project!xx

Some great storage tips here! I wish we had a separate play room. Toys are everywhere in our house! X

I must admit I am a sucker for baskets and bags too. There are so many great ideas. I wish we had space for a play room! We’re in a two up one down house and it’s pretty cluttered with baby “stuff”. One day we’ll move and then I can plan a play room!

    • Harriet April 22, 2016 / 6:06 pm

Baby stuff is a killer – its so big!

  21. Avatar April 22, 2016 / 3:16 pm

We actually have that puppy chair in my office! More of a decorative piece than something we use to sit on though..

  22. Avatar April 22, 2016 / 3:02 pm

Aww what some lovely ideas – I would love to completely redecorate this place. x

    • Harriet April 22, 2016 / 6:07 pm

      I know, me too – I can’t help it!

  23. Avatar April 22, 2016 / 1:19 pm

Aww, everything is so cute! I love the puppy chair, that’s just adorable! A reading corner sounds great, too! 🙂 xx

  24. Avatar April 22, 2016 / 1:14 pm

I love that the puppy chair is minimalist but is in a cute shade of orange and the geometric basket is so cool very retro!

    • Harriet April 22, 2016 / 6:07 pm

Thanks Ana! I love the chair too!

We have a corner of the lounge that doubles as a play area/ toy storage area and have gone for the ikea wooden box units with plastic pull-out buckets. We have floor standing ones and smaller wall mounted ones which hold toys, books, pens, arts and crafts. They are perfect for just chucking stuff in for a quick tidy up. I am however, in the process of reclaiming MY living room and transferring stuff into their bedrooms! xx

    • Harriet April 22, 2016 / 6:08 pm

Yeah I have found stuff encroaching on the living room and I hate it! I’m not a fan of sitting on a transformer when I want to chill out! H x

I love the colours that yu have picked. I am not 100% sure on the bench but I have a girl so maybe thays why x

  27. Avatar April 22, 2016 / 9:54 am

The ikea chair is so cute. Even I like the idea of having some space to get away from everything x

  28. Avatar April 22, 2016 / 9:41 am

I love the bench too. T has way too much toys too and you’re right, I bet that’s also what most parents say. I guess the key there is storage and you’ve chosen some really good ones 🙂

    • Harriet April 22, 2016 / 9:44 am

I agree – it’s all about the storage!

The giraffe head is my favorite, somehow I feel that there is not enough giraffe in my life but maybe that’s because I don’t have kids? They get all the great things!
