Fussy eaters & Haliborange vitamins for children

I’ve mentioned before that Edith has always been a super picky eater. It’s not something I’m used to with Reuben loving his fruit and veg, guzzling broccoli just as enthusiastically as he would sweets. Toby is a slightly different matter, he struggles a bit more with fruit and veg, but he will still eat the majority, even if he prefers junk food and sweets.

Then there’s Edith. We’ve tried various suspension vitamins for babies, you’ve all seen the reviews, but since having a nasty antibiotic for an infected toenail, it’s a chore to get anything into her via a syringe or spoon. No, little miss Edith’s tastes have developed and we’ve moved on to chewy vitamins that I can trick all three kids into believing are sweets! In fact, I can even trick myself into believe they are sweeties because they are SO yummy. I’m talking about Haliborange vitamins for children.

They come in a variety of styles, from multivitamins to vitamin D (hello winter!) to calcium and trust me when I tell you that every single member of our family has put these to the test! Vitamins are essential for children’s development – take Vitamin D for example: it contributes to the growth of healthy bones, muscles and teeth, yet the foods that it can be found in aren’t really something my kids would eat. Sardines, egg yolk and herring are a few I can name off the top of my head and even Roo isn’t a fan of any of them.

I’ve told the boys that they have to remind me that they need their vitamin before school and you can guarantee it is the one thing they never forget. At the moment we’re using the Haliborange Multivitamins in Strawberry flavour. They are juicy, zingy and the kids adore them – but if they didn’t, if it was an issue to get the gremlins to guzzle? Haliborange are so confident that your children will eat them no fuss (and even request them!) that if they don’t, they offer you a money back guarantee. I firmly believe it is the flavour and taste that makes them the number 1 UK vitamin, and because of that; they won’t be missing from our shelves any time soon.

I find using Haliborange so easy and it doesn’t just help to top up the kid’s diet, but it means piece of mind for me too.

So how else do we get our vitamin fix?

Here’s a few tips!

–    Operation stealth!

I am a dab hand at hiding veggies (and fruits) in food that the kids love. In autumn I love making a rustic pork casserole and in the creamy tarragon sauce I hide apples and carrots. Nom. In summer, blended peppers and tomatoes to make a pasta sauce. Easy and super scrummy.

–    Make it fun and flavoursome.

One of the things that I often think puts kids off veggies is how “boring” they can be if you are t overly keen. Toby really loves mashed carrots and cheese, he also loves mash potato volcanos – so does Edith. Half the time, it’s just getting them to try it that is the major challenge.

–    It’s not all about the veggies and the fruit!

Edith LOVES yoghurts. Yoghurt is such a great source of calcium, and often we panic with picky eaters that they aren’t getting the vitamins that they need, but they are actually doing a lot better than we think. Yoghurts, cheese, milk… all good sources of calcium.

–    Gulg gulg!

Ahh you forgot too – drinks! I have one fussy eater in this house, I do not have a fussy drinker. Edith loves juice: Apple, summer fruits… and orange – one of the best forms of vitamin C. Giving your kids juice is a great way to shove a little bit more into them without them knowing.

–    Get cooking/shopping.

Did you know kids love to be involved? Sure you do – if you have em, you know that kids love to “help”. Let them help with the shopping list and making things in the kitchen. Edith HATES peas with a passion but last week she ate them in a casserole purely because I kept reminding her that she poured them in.

So those are my tips, try not to stress about it. I know it’s easier said than done but if you sit down and you think about what your kiddo gets, in conjunction with the Haliborange supplements – they are FINE. You got this mama.   Visit the Haliborange website to find out more.

Might need to try these now winter is coming. My daughter used to eat anything but she’s become more and more fussy so I think it’s time to start a multivitamin x

I was a nightmare for my Mum when I was younger because I don’t eat vegetables, she would try the hiding food technique and make sure I ate plenty of veg and drank a lot of juice. I’d have loved these and to be honest I’d happily have them now, they look so good

Who could say no to those cute little gummies? Fussy eaters are so difficult when you’re the cook but hopefully as kids grow they grow to like more stuff too!

These vitamins look so cute and I love the packaging, so kid friendly and appealing to children. I’d definitely be reminding my mum about my daily vitamins!

I think it’s great to let the children help when shopping as it gets them more involved and wanting to try new foods. I think the Vitamin substitutes are great and brightly coloured which helps.
