Dino Star Museum in Hull :: A must for Dinosaur Lovers

dino1

Last weekend we took a little ride through to Hull to visit the Dinostar museum. It was something I didn’t even know existed until the week before because it really doesn’t get much advertisement at all – which is absolutely a shame!!

The museum is very homely, in fact, it really could do with a full refurb but it can’t get it without people visiting. One of the things I liked the most was that it was very small in what would have been an old terraced house. A lot of the pieces were replicas of original specimens, though they did have some really fossils and bones in locked displays. The boys loved all the models and interactive displays (especially smelling the swamp in the dino era!). We had a blast, and with it being so small it meant that in around an hour to an hour and a half we’d done the lot and had a jolly good play in their play area so we had enough time that we really could have visited The Deep too. Here’s a few pics from our trip:

There was a stamp collection that the boys loved - Reuben finished his super quickly and used it to match his phonics.

The genuine fossils were in cases so the boys got the chance to have a really good look without us fretting they would damage anything.

They had a small play area upstairs with sand to 'excavate fossils' and a dino play set.

One thing I would say - keep your coats on, this isn't a very warm museum and is draughty like most old buildings.

If you’re local, give it a go you will love it!
