10 children’s alternatives to chocolate for Easter!

Great Easter Alternatives to chocolate for kids via Toby & Roo :: daily inspiration for stylish parents and their kids.

I love a bit of Easter, it’s not something that I decorate for (though after bumping into a friend in a local store one day, I really feel the urge to do it this year!) but we always have egg hunts and enjoy the break together. Now that Adam doesn’t work on bank holidays – it used to be his busiest time – it makes it even more fun for us.

The only problem I find is the obscene amount of chocolate we end up with. Seriously, it’s like Willy Wonka rocked up in here, and as I seem to have a decreasing will power with age, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out who is going to eat most of the chocolate. I do it out of love – don’t laugh it’s true. It spares the children from my wrath after they have indulged in a case of hyper ‘play fighting’ which is essentially code for beating the shit out of each other and crying about it whilst screaming like lunatics that they are Hero Mashers because they managed to wear several pieces of dress up at once… Anyway, I’m digressing.

We get too much chocolate. Way too much.

So this year I thought I’d have a look at some chocolate alternatives and I found some true treasures for your collection that make super sweet Easter gifts for children but are also going to stand the test of time and become firm playroom or bookcase favourites 🙂

1.  The Secret Garden from BabyLit £5.99 (15% off using ‘tobyandroo’ at checkout)

I’ve mentioned before that Edie adores BabyLit and other books – I think this is one of the prettiest Spring gifts for children, the illustration is just wonderful!

2. Longwool Sheep Hand Puppet £44.99 (15% off using ‘tobyandroo’ at checkout)

I adore this! When I was little I had a couple of puppets and they were my favourite toys, I would play for hours with them. This wooly sheep is adorable and would be a great gift, even for a child that just likes soft toys.

3. We’re Going on an Egg Hunt Book by Laura Hughes £5.49

Really cute book and such a sweet way to have some fun and remember an Easter Egg hunt if you are planning to do one!

4. Bunny Rabbit finger puppet £5.99 (15% off using ‘tobyandroo’ at checkout)

This is super cute and a great Easter gift – brings the Easter bunny to life for sure. Toby has always loved finger puppets so this would really suit him!

5. Disney’s Tsum Tsum Easter Basket £19.95

I’ve got a bit of a thing for these. Edie loves them because they are just big enough for her little mitts so we have been buying them on and off for a time but apparently they are a pretty hot craze for kids. This is Disney’s super cute Easter offering.

6. Ruben’s Ark Lamb doll £31.99 (15% off using ‘tobyandroo’ at checkout)

These little guys are too cute. What I’ve discovered with dolls so far is that they are often hard to “cuddle” because of the hard plastic which makes them hard to take to bed. Edie loves her singing Rapunzel but couldn’t take her to bed because she’s too hard, so something like a Ruben’s doll is ideal. It’s a proper doll, but soft and snuggly. Perfect and this little Lamb outfit (removable) is too cute for Spring!

7. LEGO Easter Bunny Toy Set £12.99

We’re in love with LEGO in this house, so I know that the boys would truly love this cute little bunny. It’s simple enough that Roo could put it together himself, so that is ideal for me!

8. Count your Chickens! Board Game £12.99 (15% off using ‘tobyandroo’ at checkout)

The boys are a little obsessed with board games at the mo, so this is a must for my list. Firstly, it’s something to entertain them over the Easter holidays and it’s also something that fits with the fun theme of Easter. Winning!

9. Lacing Sheep from Plan Toys £16.00

This is prefect for preschoolers and toddlers. The idea is that you thread the sheep together to make your toys – a really popular play task in montessori learning that helps develop really important skills.

10. Blossom Bashful Bunny from Jellycat £24.99

I saw these in our local Post Office a few weeks ago and had to desperately dismiss the urge to buy one! They are too cute and the little liberty print ears are the sweetest addition.

So there you have it! Does you get a tremendous amount of chocolate in your family? Do you go with it or look for alternatives to chocolate for Easter?

Some great suggestions here especially as my kids are allergic to dairy so no chocolate for them! My favourite is the Lego set I think – you can’t go wrong with Lego can you x

Over never been bothered about Easter, if it wasn’t for my mother in law inviting the whole family round for lunch X it would be a normal day to me, so I just buy Lamb one Easter egg so he doesn’t miss out. I love this list though and lamb would live the Lego! X

Ha ha ha you have no idea how relieved I am to hear I’m not the only one who ends up eating the children’s chocolate at Easter! I mentioned it to a group of friends the other day and they looked horrified. We buy or children two each year which would be fine, if every other member of the family didn’t do the same…. Some lovely alternatives here, I’ve got dibs (does anyone else still use that word) on the Lego!!!

You are not Emily – we all do it, just some of us are honest about it haha! I think that the horrified looks were because you didn’t share!! H x

I’ll definitely taking a less chocolate approach this Easter, they get so many as gifts (we have a huge family). Love your idea’s and some great inspo for me. I love Lego idea, my eldest would love it!
